| The Sister Project is a blog network or family of related blogs: sister blogs. Conceived by Margaret Roach, The Sister Project version 1.0 is a thread of conversation that started with just four “sisters,” Margaret, Marion, Paige and Anastasia. WebDevStudios.com was brought on board to help customize WordPress MU to fit the needs of this new and exciting blog network. We also helped train Margaret and her team on the functionality of WordPress MU, helping them understand the full capabilities of this powerful website platform. The Sister Project is powered by WordPress MU, an open-source website framework allowing for a network of individual blogs and user permissions with a single install of WordPress MU. The Sister Project also uses the WordPress Thesis Theme, a high-quality template system for WordPress powered websites. | |
BuddyPress Beta Released - WordPress Meets Social Networking
Last week BuddyPress announced the launch of their much anticipated beta release.
BuddyPress is a set of WordPress MU plugins that adds social networking functionality to any standard WordPress MU installation. Each BuddyPress component is independent, meaning you can choose which features you’d like and are not required to install all features on your site.
Andy Peatling, the developer behind BuddyPress, did an excellent interview on WordPress Weekly last Friday. In the interview Andy goes in to detail on BuddyPress features and functionality, the future of BuddyPress, developing BuddyPress specific components, and much more. As always Jeff did a great job with the interview.
